I've decided to keep the 185i although there is currently no TIG torch available. I'll be in touch with the folks at Longevity on a regular basis. Hopefully they can come up with a torch.

I received a Longevity news letter today and this machine was listed first as a sale item. I downloaded the manual and it does not mention a TIG torch included with this machine. If this is the case get with Mr. Tig, explain to him what you have and he can fix you up with a good CK brand torch and the fittings you will need. It does state on page 14 that a Argon regulator is included. It looks like the one included with my machine and it is pretty descent.
Hope you get this all ironed out, Steve

Hey Poodle, Longevity threw in the TIG torch with the machine. I have a WP-17f (the second torch they sent me) right now but it doesn't have a valve on the torch head to turn off the argon. I'm currently working with Simon on a new torch. He is attempting to source a torch for me and we will make another exchange.

I just fired up the unit and the plasma cutter is not working. So, I hooked up the arc welding cable and I have current there. I'm going back out to the shop and turn down the regulator on my compressor to see if I can get it to work. There is no regulator adjustment on the machine to turn the air pressure up or down. It is set from the factory. I noticed it starts out above 60 psi and when you activate the switch on the cutter, it drops to around 60 psi. I hope this fixes my problem............gads.

The 42i is also set internally. Not a bad thing persay.
Just feed the thing at least 80psi and you will be fine.

When you key the trigger do you get anything? Arc or air?
Was it set to plasma mode?

If you want to send me the torch I'll fix it for you to make it work.

Hello Gamble, Thank you for the offer, but the welder is brand new and I have to work with the Longevity folks right now. I just plugged it in for the first time yesterday.....Egads...............

When I key the trigger I get air........no arc.......yes it is in plasma mode. I talked to Simon and we went through a list of things. I'm supplying 125 psi to the welder and the gauge shows 75 psi static, when you key the trigger it drops to around 65 psi. Simon had me hook the ground clamp to the + connector. Apparently the plasma ground clamp hooks to the + connector and the TIG/ARC hooks to the - connector. That didn't change anything. He had me adjust the supply air to 80 psi. No arc. They are going to send me pictures on how the welder is supposed to be hooked up to work. If that is ok, then the welder and plasma torch goes back to CA.
I hooked up the arc welder and it does have an arc. I didn't weld anything, but I had power to the stick.

TIG torch update: There is a torch available, but it needs an adapter to change it from a small dinse to a large dinse. That is coming.

Take off the cap/gas diffuser on the plasma torch and make sure all the consumables are installed in the proper orientation as well as the swirl ring being installed. Also push on the electrode and make sure it moves in/out freely. Put the cap back on and do not over tighten it. You can also try to loosen the cap a bit. When it's on it pushes the 2 safety pins in which are wired to the trigger circuit.

I keep hearing about the swirl ring???? I'll have to look that up and see what it looks like. Ok, I have the breakdown of the PT-60. When I took the cap off there was the torch tip and then the electrode. Nothing else. Is the swirl ring a separate piece? I'll go out and look again right now. I just looked at the torch. I took off the cup and there is a tip........that is it. The electrode or course screws into the torch head. What does the swirl ring look like? I believe I need one of these.
