I'll have to try one of those gold lens in my jackson fixed shade helmet, because i can't see out the one i have now.I use my Miller Digital Elite strictly for tig because it is clean welding, but i use the jackson for mig and stick, because of weld splatter.Don't want to mess up my expensive helmet with flying hot molten metal.

X2 Gilly. Mig gets the fixed shade helmet for me too. I don't mind how it looks and the cover lenses for the fixed shades are pretty cheap. I don't want to subject a nice AD helmet to spatter either.

Did anyone figure out what happened to the thing? I'd like to know the cause of the problem if you find one. Also, any idea when I will get my helmet?
    Thanks,

My new helmet arrived yesterday! Thanks Longevity for awesome customer service. Any idea why the one I sent you quit working correctly?

Well I have no issues too with my old standard shade 10 pipeliners as it is called, I have two handhelds and two hood. Then got a Hobart large flip window last year coz I wanted a larger window for a change while stick welding. My friends who got new ADH said they won't be using again those old helmets after trying their new hoods, fine with me and respect their views. Well I myself ordered an ADH recently just for Mig or Tig use in the coming months.

Still love these standard protective masks/hoods, still have my eyes, a 20/20 vision for that matter.

ADH will get you spoiled for sure. I've never used a fixed shade helmet before. Were you able to try out your friend's ADH?
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Yeah well when an adh fails it's pretty ugly! I had to skip an entire weld class when my last one stopped working correctly. I tried borrowing other helmets but the damage had been done. I just swept up and went home.

Newer ADH have full UV / IR protection whether they dim or not but if they don't dim, you'll get a bright flash and see stars for awhile. Nothing like having a fixed shade backup. I've got one of those that has a handle for you to hold it against your face .... LOL. Better than nothing if my helmet fails.
