i have a 140 and dont like the way electrodes stick under 90 amps....don't want to make the same mistake with new purchase! hoping that someone can tell me what the open circuit voltage is on the lc-520 welder....the higher end units list there ocv but the 520 does not...I'll buy one if the ocv is above 60 volts...

Toolman,

Check your ground clamp. Also, check the review at weldingdata.com - the reviewer has lot of suggestions on improving the sticking on the 140.

Toolman,
From the Longevity web site;

LS-520D
Specifications:

Operating Dual Voltage:
208/220vac 50/60HZ Input Single Phase 1PH
110/120vac 50/60HZ Input Single Phase 1PH
50amp cut draws 25Amps
40amp cut draws 22.5Amps
230V No Load Voltage, 100-115V Working Voltage

The last line is the one I think you are interested in. I think it means that at 230V with no load you have 100-115 volts.

Simon, Jessie can you verify this?

Toolman,

Mitech is a separate factory that is mainly in China with little or no representation in America. There are very little copyrights in China so they produce and copy each other like crazy.

The new Longevity units will be designed and patented to insure no Chinese or any other company can copy our dress skin patents. The units are built by two different factories.

The open voltage on the stick is 62amps on that machine.

Thanks again!!...any one reading this I would steer clear from mitech...i had poor performance with no support.....Longevity is great in support ... I'll let you know about the machines when I get one... Thanks to Simon for the phone call!!....
