I like the look of the sg45 torch better than the sg55. I am curious if there is a performance difference between the two? I figure the sg55 is basically a tig torch modified to accept some plasma consumables. In a cnc application I don't know that it really matters comfort/trigger wise. I'm wondering hobbyist vs light industrial in the quality of the build and/or if consumables are cheaper, easier to get or more variety for one or the other.
The hypertherm powermax 1650 I am familiar with has fine cut and "standard" consumables. So far the consumables I have been able to view for either torch look to be a fine cut type.

There is a difference between the two torch's The S45 uses a lower voltage/frequency to start the arc. The SG55 uses high voltage/frequency for arc starting. The two torches are NOT interchangeable. As for CNC apps check out this link.
