Garage sale score.

I picked this up a few weekends ago at a garage sale for $10.00. This is a 12" disk sander. It's made of cast iron and is very solid. Even the disk plate is cast iron. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite tools.

Nice score, but you don't want to get me started on garage sale scores cause I'm the master :)
Since I'm not going to Sturgis this year I'm gonna try and hit the worlds longest garage sale it runs from Ohio to Georgia. Yeehaw.

Man you lucky dog. That is one heck of a sander. Did you leave them a tip at that price?

No tip. I took it and ran.

Yes, it came as pictured with a pretty solid wooden base.

No tip. I took it and ran.
You ran with that thing? It looks really heavy :)

07-14-2010, 05:29 PM
Ok so I loaded it in the truck and drove away real fast ;-)

And yes, it is very heavy, they don't make them like that anymore.

I guess finding something like that is like winning the lottery you have to go to garage sales to score something like that. I like going to garage sales but my wife does not.

Same here so I just go alone.

Well my garage sale trip is off and the Sturgis S.D. trip is back on, seems the majority of the partners wanted me back and they tracked me down through a friend who owns a camp ground out there and got my new number so I'll miss the bargains but I'll end up actually having the money for them, catch 22.

Very nice Dan. That is a nice find. I have a small version of that in my golf shop and it is very handy.

I never find good stuff like that at garage sales. Maybe I just don't stop at enough of them.

07-26-2010, 06:57 AM
Now I have to start hitting garage sales, as if I needed that monkey on my back too.

Great Sander! I got one from a friend a few years back his wife was tired of running into it in the basement and he gave it to me with a old 9" 3 wheel band saw Craftsman. I use it all the time just need to spin it up before turning it on. I think that the capacitor is bad or something. Great find you will love it!

great looking, keep up the good work...I am always looking...garage sales are a great place to find "that" thing you need....but don't take your wife, they always want just a dollar and fill your truck full of junk....not stuff, junk...lol

07-28-2010, 10:24 PM
That's the problem I run into if we ever go to a garage sale. My wife wants junk, like we don't have enough already. And all you guys have already beat me to the stuff.

08-01-2010, 02:18 PM
YES!! sometimes a great deal will come along.

08-06-2010, 10:25 AM
I'll give you $20.00 for it, that's 100% profit;)
