Fence Hangers

07-01-2010, 01:02 AM
I recently had to come uip with a new mailbox for the house, and didn't have a place for it. I decided to mount one in an archway beside my front door, and had to fabricate some hangers for a small decorative fence to go across the archway, onto which I could mount a box.

I just used some lag-bolts with some 5/16 tubing welded onto the tops to use as hangers to screw into the verticals on the archway. The fence bolts to the hangers, and the box to the fence.

I really like it. How's the mail carrier like it? Bet they were impressed.

Strube: Yeah - our mail lady was really happy. Actually, I'm not finished yet. I still have to sandblast the Maple-leaf, and polish it to match the new hardware on the front door which is yet to be installed. It's ironic - the mailbox etc. cost almost as much as the door - Ah - the joys of house ownership. Cheers, Art R.
