LS-160p big enough?!

I am planning on buying a TIG welder soon. The majority of my work will be in Steel, however, I want to be able to make small tanks and brackets out of aluminium. The thickness of the aluminium would rarely get over 1/8". I'm sure it would handle the 1/8 stuff, or I feel it would, but what do you experienced Longevity guys think?

Obviously I'd like to buy a bigger machine, but money and space say otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Clay,
I had the LS160P and was welding 1/8" aluminum with it so you should be ok. The 160P is a great machine, I really liked mine but got a great deal on an IGBT 200PI machine so I upgraded.

Clay the 160p will weld al with great sucess. I had a 160p and I welded some 3/8 al It worked very well just a little slow. Like Gadget I got a deal I could not refuse and up graded to a 200PI.

It should be able to do 1/8 with not too much problem same for steel if that's allyour planning on welding which is never the case then get the 160.

Yep. Always buy more than you need because you will always need more later.

That's always my policy when I'm buying rum.
